Seashells receives a commission from stores when we sell their digital gift cards. When you pay through Seashells and receive a digital gift card, we earn a commission. The majority of that commission we give to you in the form of Cash Back. So the Cash Back comes from the gift card commissions we receive. The commissions we receive from each store are different, which is why the Cash Back offers for each store are different.
For example, let’s say a store pays us a 10% commission for each digital gift card we sell. If you buy a $100 digital gift card to that store through Seashells, we earn a $10 commission. So we can give you a large portion of that commission as Cash Back (ex. 9% or $9). We just need to keep a small portion of that commission to cover transaction processing fees. That is why we can pass along more Cash Back when you pay with a Bank rather than a credit/debit card (because processing fees are lower when you pay with a Bank account).

Making a Purchase
To make a purchase on your Seashells account, you’ll be prompted to add a credit/debit card or bank account to your account when you are trying to make a gift card purchase on ShopSeashells.com (if you’ve never added a payment method before). You can add a new card or bank account on the Account page by selecting Add A Payment Method at any time. If you’ve previously added a payment method, simply select which payment method you want to use to complete your purchase during the Checkout process. Paying with a credit card results in lower cash back amounts than paying with your bank account due to the high cost of credit card processing fees. If you want to earn more CashBack on every purchase, link your bank account to your Seashells account.
Note: These transactions will appear on your bank statement as 'Seashells'.
When adding a payment method, select to link your bank by manually linking with your account and routing number. You'll be prompted to enter some information to confirm your identity for security purposes. From there:
- 1) Check your bank account in 2-3 business days for the exact amounts we deposited.
- 2) Log back into your Seashells account and find the bank account under the Payment Methods section of the Account or Checkout page.
- 3) Click ‘Verify’ Bank account from the Account page or Checkout page and enter the 2 amounts.
You should be all set to pay from there! We do ask you keep a valid credit card on the account to further validate your identity and in the case that the payment fails.

You can only link checking accounts to Seashells. You cannot link savings accounts as they are not all enabled for transactions. The checking account must be in your name.
You can link your accounts by using your online banking username and password to enable your account, or by adding your account via account number and routing number.
Using Seashells to pay at a restaurant is easy. Let’s use Chili’s as an example. The server brings you your bill. Calculate the total, including the amount you’d like to tip. For example, the total is $50.00. You would like to tip $10. On ShopSeashells.com, find Chili’s, enter $60.00 and Checkout through us to get your custom gift card.
Write down the gift card number on the ticket and give it to the waitress, telling her that you wrote down a gift card number. She will take the ticket, type in the gift card number and bring the ticket back to you for a signature. Write down your $10 tip and the total of $60.00, just as you would as if you had paid with your debit/credit card. The process should be very similar at every restaurant.

Once your Cash Back is transferred into your Seashells account, you can cash out whenever you’d like. You can cash out to a bank account you link to your Seashells account, or you can provide your Paypal email address and we’ll send you your Cash Back via PayPal. You can also use your Cash Back balance for future purchases.

Yes. If you wish to change your funding method, you can add a new one on your Account page. Please note, you can cash out your Cash Back to a bank account you’ve linked to your Seashells account or via your Paypal account.
You can ‘cash out’ or ‘withdraw’ your Cash Back balance by linking a bank account to your Seashells account, or by selecting to cash out with Paypal and providing your PayPal email address. If you haven’t added your bank account as a payment method, you can add it on the Account page by selecting ‘Add A New Payment Method’. If you choose to cash out with PayPal, please make sure the email address you entered is correct, as the one you’ve entered is where we will send the cash out.

You earn 2.0% more Cash Back when you make a purchase with your linked bank account as your payment method. You earn less Cash Bank on purchases if you choose to pay with a credit card, due to the higher fees associated with credit card purchases. We display the higher Cash Back amount on our website, unless you’ve linked only a credit card.

If you purchase a digital gift card through Seashells and for some reason you do not receive your digital gift card code, you are entitled to receive a full refund or exchange from Seashells. Once you receive your digital gift card code, refunds, returns and exchanges are handled by the applicable Retailer. Although we believe the applicable Retailer will grant refunds and/or accept returns according to its customary refund policy, we cannot guarantee this because we do not control any Retailer. Please make sure the digital gift card and the amount you purchase matches the amount you intended to purchase.

In some rare cases, ShopSeashells.com could fail to generate your custom gift card code. It could be due to connectivity issues or issues with the retailer. It could also be due to the payment failing. Please make sure you are using a valid credit/debit card or the bank account you’ve linked is correct.

Seashells does not charge any fees for paying with Bitcoin.

Similar to physical gift cards, digital gift cards cannot be returned for any reason. Because a live, active card has been delivered, retailers do not allow returns because of the high probability of fraud.
Typically, gift cards can be used immediately after they are claimed (individual merchant policies may apply).
Gift Cards that are purchased, generally, have no expiration date unless stated in the specific terms for a given gift card. However, promotional cards that have no additional value must be claimed within a specified time period, as defined in the individual card terms. If unclaimed within the specified time period, they will no longer be available.

Direct Link: In this case, when you click ‘Use Now’ on ShopSeashells.com, the promotion is already applied. Clicking opens the store’s website and you’re good to go!
You can use a gift card purchased from ShopSeashells.com to pay for your purchase when you use a gift card or promotion. If you want to get a gift card for the exact amount of your purchase, make sure ALL coupons and promotions are applied before you buy a gift card from Seashells. We cannot refund the difference if the amount is incorrect, or refund a card purchased errantly.
